Challenging year, but an exciting one

THOMPSON Creek Thoroughbreds will be sending its mares this year to Dundeel, So You Think, Shalaa, Castelvecchio and Strasbourg among other stallions.

It’s a year filled with challenges, but also a year of great opportunities.

We look forward to what lies beyond the current pandemic crisis.

We love Dundeel, a great racehorse and star stallion. We race The Closer, a quality Dundeel mare who is currently in work and about to embark on another campaign with Ciaron Maher and David Eustace. We also have a stunning weanling filly by Dundeel from the Street Boss mare Eat Dessert First, which we raced. This youngster has star qualities.

Dundeel’s son Castelvecchio also appeals to us.

Another Arrowfield stallion, Shalaa, has trainers talking. They like the look of the stock they bought at the yearling sales this year.

Strasbourg is another new boy on the block. In this case, he’s at Rosemont Stud, a near neighbor of ours in the Geelong district. We have mares booked to him in his first season.

We also manage mares for clients and some are starting to arrive from other parts of Victoria and interstate. We will manage their spring matings at walk-on farms in the Nagambie area and elsewhere.
